As
we happen upon this new Millennium, it provides us the opportunity to reflect
on our past and speculate on our future. As a Polish immigrant heading to
America, Benjamin Lazarus was the second youngest of 8 children all coming
to this country for freedom and the opportunity to live the American dream.
His dream lives on through the third generation and now 73 years of history
are there to be handed to generations to come.
Over the past 73 years, we have gone from producing bedspreads for the retail,
custom made market to mass producing for the Hospitality Industry. We have
gone from buying fabrics from outside suppliers, to physically printing fabrics
in-house. We went from sub-contracting certain specialty items to initiating
production lines to provide a better product at a cheaper price.
B. Lazarus was the first company in this industry to develop and use Trevira
sheeting fabrics. We were the first to contract and use wide Trevira fabrics.
We are still one of the only manufacturers that has its own printing
capabilities. And we are still the only manufacturer to produce wide Poly/Cotton
fabrics.
Even today, we are always looking for ways to enhance our product line. We
have a few fabrics under development as well as other products that will
prepare us for this Millennium.

a wide variety of custom designs to choose from. Just send us your design
concept and we will take it from there. You can even scan and email your
concepts to save time.

– COM – COM
Over the past 15 years, B. Lazarus has been converting all of its
own fabrics. This has enabled us to offer a completely vertical manufacturing
operation, and bring down the costs without sacrificing quality. Converting
has been so successful, that in 1995 we went out and bought the necessary
equipment needed to print in-house. However, with that aggressive step, our
marketing efforts may have overlooked those clients who had a completely
different design concept in mind and could not find anything in our line
to choose from. And even though we encourage our clients to let us help them
find the right design, that cannot always be achieved. That is where C.O.M.
(Customer’s Own Material) plays a growing portion of our manufacturing
process. Whether you are a design firm, a purchasing agency or management
company, we can always provide our quality labor.
Fitted
Styles Undergo
Change
Over the past two years, we have encountered some growing pains
in handling our continued growth of business. Most of these have occurred
in our bedspread department. As more and more clients require specialty fitted
bedspreads (and coverlets), our standard throw bedspreads were being delivered
slower than our usual 3-4 weeks. To solve this problem, we have added production
lines that are geared for specific styles. In addition to the 5 lines we
currently have running Throw Style bedspreads, we have added 2 lines for
Waterfall and Cap Fitted products, as well as 2 lines for Gusset Fitted items.
This has all but alleviated the backlog in our bedspread department.
As with most changes, there is usually a cost involved, and this is no exception.
Deliveries will be 3-4 weeks for Throw Style, 4-6 weeks for Cap & Waterfall
and 6-8 weeks for Gusset Fit
